I can't seem to play videos from this site http://www.tomshardware.com/news/cyberark-boundhook-rootkit-intel-processors,35715.html or http://www.tomshardware.com in general unless I turn of Adguard filtering.
Happens for MS Edge, Firefox and Chrome browsers.
How can I fix this?
Yes, Adguard symbol shows on the page, if that's what you mean by assistant. Disabled Adguard service, Chrome web plugin and all filters and filtering in Adguard settings panel. No dice, still can't play these videos in chrome.
Maybe the problem is not with Adguard after all, since videos play...
Thanks... please see below. The google chrome screen seems fixed and frozen and remains that way for ever (I stopped waiting after 10+minutes). The MS Edge screen shows the normal and expected video and its playback controls.
1. User filter (empty)
2. English Filter
3. Spyware Filter
4. Social media filter
5. Filter unblocking useful ads
6. Japanese filter
7. Dutch filter
8. EasyList China
In filter apps section, all apps are checked, which I believe default option.
I'm having problems playing videos on cnn.com (http://www.cnn.com/videos) using googles chrome web browser. Disabling filtering doesn't seem to help...
These videos play fine using MS Edge browser.
This is weird. I have other programs (http://www.iobit.com/en/index.php) that constantly poke NIS, which in turn blocks them with a 'medium severity' warning, just like it does for Adguard. But Norton Power Eraser (NPE) doesn't flag them as potentially but flags Adguard as a security risk that...
Sadly, not really. The tool is a brute force program that takes over your computer and runs independently, often restarting your PC in the process. Nowhere, that I know of, are you given options of any sort to whitelist any programs or files.
Thank you Avatar. That's very helpful information and glad all seems harmless but wonder why Norton's Power Eraser(NPE) flagged Adguard as dangerous and recommends immediate deletion? Maybe NPE is just too aggressive.
In the meantime, this is what NIS says about Adguard ...
