AdGuard Assistant not showing up

Hello there,

I apologize if this is the wrong forum, I really didn't know the best place for it so thought it might fit here okay.

Recently, after updating AdGuard (6.0.167.886), AdGuard assistant, nor any other extensions, show up properly in SlimJet (Chrome-based browser) on HTTPS sites. It still works perfectly in Firefox (and Cyberfox) and regular Chrome, I'm really just reporting it I guess in case others use SJ and notice the same issue.

Ads are blocked properly on all sites still though, so that aside, thanks for the hard work and continual updates!

Please give us a few examples of those https sites.

Just updated, same result. I'm using Fanboy+Easylist merged, English, Spyware, Fanboy's Social Blocking, Pete Lowe, Adblock Warning Removal and Anti-Adblock Killer. Like I said, all the ad blocking works as usual, just none of the extensions on HTTPS sites.

Google, Facebook, Twitter, even the github page about the update there is missing the assistant in the corner. It's working fine here on the forum though on regular HTTP.

Could you please show what's in your browser console? (menu -> more tools -> developer tools -> switch to console tab there)

That's when I'm on just plain google.com using SlimJet. I can post from other sites like Twitter, Facebook, etc, if you'd like. They're all very similar results, I looked through them.

This is what pops out at me and is the cause of your issue. Why it happens I'm not sure - hopefully Andrey will shed some light upon this.

I hope so, I've grown fond of SJ and would like to keep using it if possible to get the extensions working with it again.

Also, just to add, when I click any of those links, they are working. The code comes up in a new tab and shows that the extensions are there and do exist, they're just failing to actually load in the browser.

I just downloaded the 64-bit portable version of SlimJet, and oddly enough extensions are working.

Maybe it's a bad browser profile? What OS are you using and what anti-virus/anti-malware/firewall software are you using?

It is strange because it did work for me before, just stopped for whatever reason. I was considering it might be a conflict or something on my end. I'm not sure what changed though to be honest besides updating.

I'm using Windows 10 with Comodo Internet Security and Malwarebytes Anti-malware. I made sure in Comodo to completely allow everything AdGuard so as to not block it. I even disabled it completely to make sure and nothing changed so I 'feel like' I've ruled it out. I just disabled everything again and still it isn't working. I then disabled all browser plugins in Cyberfox and SlimJet and it isn't showing up in either of them now.

It's like it's just every once in a while now. I'm at a loss, I'm not sure.

I suppose some of your software strips "Referer" header from these requests.

Adguard does not allow to get userscripts code when there's no "Referer" header.

As soon as I unticked 'Block cross-domain HTTP referrer', everything came back to functional. Thanks, I'm so glad to have the userscripts back!

The same thing worked in CyberFox so anyone who has a 'secure' browser might want to check for that setting as well, as per Avatar's advice.

I've had that problem before without resolution. I get what seems like a robo-response which asks me to provide a screenshot of the Adguard Assistant console. Well, HELLO, I can't get the console to appear. All I get is the main one. I ran through all the "disable this, disable that, restart, uninstall, reinstall" hoops to no avail.

I don't know if this helps, but here's some background:

My desktop came with Windows 7 and I performed a System Recovery prior to upgrading to Windows 10 (I find it helpful to go back to a clean slate because the new OS is buggy when I didn't do so before). Except for my unfamiliarity with Microsoft Edge and some tinkering to Google Chrome, I've had no post-upgrade problems. Also, when I installed Adguard while I was running W7, my license was annually renewed. Prior to the upgrade to W10, I chose to invest in a lifetime license with Adguard.

I suppose they asked a screenshot of browser console (as there is no assistant console).

Hiya! I do hope it is fine to post in an existing thread with a similar issue.

I just did a new o/s Install, and I noticed something, the browser assistant is missing while browsing any site. At first I assumed it was one of the many extensions/addons I installed, so I disabled all, that didn't get the assistant to show. Which was I tried another browser, no problem there, the assistant clearly visible. So I decided to go back to the original browser and check its settings, nothing stood out. I did however, upon browsing the forum here for the same issue, the assistant was visible. The only thing that I didn't turn off was the browser in-built adblocking feature, turning that off happened to fix it.

So the browser adblocker clearly BLOCKING another adblocker. In the past both have worked in an harmonious manner. Can this be kindly looked into, or simply isolated to just me.

O/s : Microsoft Windows 7 x64
Browser Main : Opera Developer 40.0.2280.0
