AdGuard causes Creative Cloud services running 100% CPU (Big Sur)

Hi,

Have been using AdGuard 2 years, absolutely love it!

Yesterday I finally updated to Big Sur, everything works fine but AdGuard is causing some Creative Cloud stuff running 100% CPU and the fan is blowing like crazy.

This happens as soon as I boot up my Mac, not every time but very often (I believe it has something to do with the order of launch..)

So here is some info and what I tried to troubleshooting:

Environment
- OS version: Big Sur 11.2.3 (20D91)
- AdGuard version: 2.5.3.955 release (CL-1.7.200)

Apps running 100% CPU
- "CCLibrary" and "CCXProcess" (sometimes both but sometimes only one of them.)

What I tried
- All apps is licensed, no crack.
- Add Creative Cloud apps to "Network → Filtered Applications" and unchecked them. - NOT WORKING

filtered apps.png
- Disabled User Rules, Steath Mode, Extensions - NOT WORKING
- Clean reinstall all Adobe stuff - NOT WORKING
- Turn AdGuard off or pause - YES
- Turn "Automatically filter applications" in Network off - YES

BTW the CPU usage is back to normal as soon as I turn AdGuard off, here is the screen recording:

I didn't try to reinstall entire macOS cuz I don't have time to do that and just turn off AdGuard is working so I don't have to.

I hate Adobe they are bitches but have to use it for my job, and I love AdGuard can't live without it, hope you can help solving this issue, thanks

Hello there!

To troubleshoot this issue, we need to get the app logs.

Here's what we need you to do:

1. Menu -> Gear -> Advanced -> Logging level -> Debug;
2. Reproduce the issue (and remember the exact time when it happened);
3. Menu -> Advanced -> Export Logs and System Info...;
4. Send the archive to apple@adguard.com and share the link to this topic on forum.

Also, please specify did you add CC to the filtered apps manually?

Now I tried to reproduce your issue but I did not encounter this behavior.

I think it makes sense to try to reinstall AdGuard completely:
Remove /Library/Application Support/com.adguard.mac.adguard
Remove ~/Library/Application Support/com.adguard.mac.adguard
Remove ~/Library/Preferences/com.adguard.mac.adguard.plist
Remove ~/Library/Group Containers/TC3Q7MAJXF.com.adguard.com
Remove app file from Applications
Quit all "cfprefsd" processes from Activity Monitor

Then install the app again using this link

Also, please specify maybe you using third-party antivirus on your MAC?

Thanks for reply.

I just tried uninstall AdGuard completely then reinstalled it in your way but the issue persists, I also didn't touch any option, it's all default.

No. I don't use any antivirus app or network-related app, the only one I'm using is ExpressVPN but I also tried remove it and doesn't help.

Additional info:
Switch AdGuard filtering mode (in preferences → network) from "Network Extension" to "Automatic Proxy" worked, so I believe this is the main cause, but I don't think using automatic proxy is a proper solution though..

I have the same exact problem with big sur and macbook pro 16. I have the latest version of adguard.

I don't have any issue with my Big Sur Imacs (adguard installed).

I sent the spindump to adobe and they say this problem occurs due to adguard.

Also when i turn off adguard CPU usage goes normal. It only occurs sometimes after restart...

Switching Automatic Proxy is working. This problem occurs only on big sur with the new network extension...

So annoying..

Adguard version: 2.3.5.955 nightly CL 1.7.200

We have the same issue on a MacBook Pro i7 6-core running the most recent OSX 11.2.3 and AdGuard 2.5.3.955. The Adobe CC sync app starts consuming about 100% of computer CPU. In my case this seems to start overnight. I initially thought the issue was with Adobe, but tracked it down to AdGuard. I tried to find settings so AdGuard doesn't filter Adobe Creative Cloud (since there is no reason to) but couldn't find a way. The only solution seems to be to turn AdGuard off.

It is also necessary that you open the macOS system console when the CPU load is high.
Wait for a while and save the system log.
And also send it to us by email.

I was able to reproduce the issue you mentioned.

Here is a link to the GitHub task, where you can follow the progress of the solution.

Thanks all for the info provided.

For what it may or may not be worth - I'm using the Nightly build, Creative Cloud, Big Sur 11.4 ... and I'm having this same maxed-out CPU issue.

Thanks @Chinaski ! As usual, I did a little more digging and noticed this so my posit just wasted some time :)
I have a friend who is not using AdGuard but is having the same problem - but I believe in his case it is associated with the VPN software he's using. It's ports all the way down.

I have the same issue and I don't have adobe, I do have OpenVpn Connect but even with it closed down my MacBook m1 air (Big Sur 11.5) will heat up right away when AdGuard is running.

Hi, still following the thread for a solution. Like the others I'm having the same problem of overheating, fan running loudly, cpu at 100%

Just wanted to reply to say I came from the Adobe Forum Thread and wanted to report that I'm having the exact same issue. CCLibrary at 100% and fans going crazy. Quit AdGuard and immediately fans stopped and CCLibrary no longer at 100%.

Running Monterey 12.3.1 on an Intel Mac.
