It took us 7 months from the previous minor release to prepare this one. Remarkably, the previous big release took place almost exactly a year ago, on October 12, 2020. That’s a substantial period of time, so we can’t help but hold our breath when we present the new version of AdGuard for Mac.
It delivers such features as DNS filtering, native Apple silicon support, and Monterey support. The first two ones have been used by beta testing enthusiasts for a long time now, but today we’ve finally got to the release point, so the features will be available for all users.

DNS filtering support [#685]

We've used the same approach as in AdGuard for Windows, Android, and iOS, bringing to the app for Mac DNS servers, DNS blocklists and allowlists. One of feature requests from users was adding DNSCrypt, DoH, and DoT support. Finally, it's all there, DoT included. AdGuard DNS has become the first public DNS resolver to support the cutting-edge DNS-over-QUIC protocol.
Now you needn't rely on a DNS server provided by your ISP by default, you can choose DNS servers from known DNS providers and add custom DNS servers. You can also add domains to DNS blocklist or allowlist and add complicated rules using DNS rules syntax.
Besides, you can add DNS filters of your choice. You can find various filters and links to them here.

Native Apple Silicon support [#801]

Another great news is that we're added М1 support, now AdGuard for Mac is fully optimized to run on Apple Silicon.

macOS Monterey support [#875]

macOS Monterey is the latest version coming this fall. We tested the compatibility of AdGuard v2.6 for Mac with macOS Monterey, and they work fine together.
All you need to do is wait for the newest macOS 12 to be released – to try AdGuard on it, among other things :)

Changelog
  • [Fixed] AdGuard no longer filters Brave Browser on Big Sur [#746]
  • [Fixed] AdGuard cannot detect that AdGuard Browser Assistant is installed in Chrome [#907]

  • [Fixed] AdGuard crashes when updating filters [#911]
  • [Fixed] Change the KEXT behavior in case of switching between users [#769]
  • [Fixed] Editing an allowlist causes the app to crash [#860]
  • [Fixed] Fast user switching might corrupt the certificate database [#675]

I just received and installed the update. I now have 3 AG shield symbols. Upper right is where I check for updates, reset stats etc; bottom right is what I have always assumed is the AG Assistant. With the new update to 2.6.0.1041 I now have a Blue AG icon top left. No problems but does the mew blue icon replace the green AG Assistant lower right? I am always Leary of tinkering when all is working well but if one is not needed some help in removing would be appreciated. Here is a screen shot:

Hey I upgraded to 2.6. This is normal behavior? Just connecting but never connect. When I delete this"interface" AdGuard is down.
(I use AdGuard app)

Regarding my post and the three icons. I was running the legacy icon, Unchecked it and the icon is gone. Still do not know why each icon has separate function. See the screen shots.

The icon in the lower right corner is the Legacy Assistant icon.

You can disable it by going to the [Assistant section] as using two assistants does not make much sense.

iCloud Private Relay in Monterey seems to be not working after enabling AdGuard 2.6

AdGuard and iCloud Private Relay cannot work at the same time. iCloud Private Relay is disabled automatically when AdGuard is active.

AdGuard cannot block ads when Private Relay is tunnelling traffic, because the Private Relay does it before network connections can be filtered by AdGuard.

It is recommended to use more traditional VPNs when using AdGuard.

No, unfortunately, this is not normal behaviour.

Try resetting your AdGuard settings. (Gear -> Advanced -> Reset settings)

Also, do you use third-party software like VPNs or anti-viruses?

Please try to follow this instruction

1) Reboot your mac;
2) Launch AdGuard;
3) If a reboot does not give a result, you should remove the service from the network settings list (System Preferences -> Network -> Select AdGuard -> Press "-" -> Press "Apply" as shown in the screenshot -> https://uploads.adguard.com/Chinaskisg0jh.png -> Run AdGuard Protection);
4) If that didn't work, please open Terminal and type in the command systemextensionsctl list;
5) Send me a screenshot of the command result in the terminal (At DM).
