Unfortunately, the larger the update, the more the risk of letting some bugs through. The latest release of AdGuard for Windows exposed several of those so we’re ready with a hotfix. Thanks to all users who sent reports to us — it wouldn’t be possible without your help! As a result, we fixed the bugs that some of you had encountered. For instance, we fixed a network filtering bug that prevented the application from working correctly. We also solved the problem with incorrect work of the tray menu icon. In addition, we slightly redesigned the “Advanced settings” block for easier navigation.

Changelog

  • [Enhancement] Advanced settings redesign
  • [Enhancement] “Disable IP” and “Fallback” text fields become inactive when no input is required
  • [Fixed] Clicking the desktop icon doesn’t open AdGuard UI #3956
  • [Fixed] "Launch AdGuard at system start-up" doesn't work correctly #3968
  • [Fixed] Right click on the tray menu icon opens the main window #3908
  • [Fixed] Service stops with a "Network filtering is absent" error
  • [Fixed] Downloads slow down if the server uses HTTP/2 #1533
  • [Fixed] “Adguard Service” causes `ERR_SSL_VERSION_OR_CIPHER_MISMATCH` on some sites in Chrome #1537
  • [Other] Upgraded CoreLibs to v1.8.227
  • [Other] Upgraded DnsLibs to v1.6.58

Updated to 7.7.1 on Nov 3, 2021. Program briefly opened and moved the slider from red to green to turn on. Won't turn on. Recevied a message "cannot start network filtering". Icon on tray menu is orange. Adguard ran just fine till the update.
Running Windows 10 Pro 64bit. Build 19043.1288.
I am running Eset Internet Security and there was an update for that at the same time as I updated Adguard. I paused Eset but nothing.
Adguard won't open at all. I right-click Icon on tray menu none of the options work as the program won't open.
Last resort I scrubbed Adguard from the computer and every instance of Adguard in Registry. Re-installed Adguard. Nothing. Restarted. Nothing.
Can you revert to previous version? Beta versions etc?

Aydin, Thanks for your response. After looking at the logs in Event Viewer, I noticed several errors about adguard.core.tools.exe framework version v4.0.30319: Process was terminated due to unhandled exception. etc... A member posted something about Net Framework and his solution was installing Adguard Nightly. I did the same and it solved my problem. Adguard Support suggested using Nightly and make sure the Adguard process is running in services.msc.
I updated, and it showed Nighlty 7.7. and working great.
Does Nightly version only update Nightly versions?

@Tr!ck Since you have nightly now installed, if you right click on the Adguard systray ICON and click about, you will get the latest Nightly version if an upgrade is available.
