    Hi everyone,

I currently have a license for the Adguard full client but have a question for you all. What does the desktop client do that the plugin can't? I am trying to figure out what's best for my needs but so far I have only had weird quirks and such with the full client. The plugin, however, when by itself is flawless.

    Please advise.

Well, you can read this from the FAQ on the main site: http://adguard.com/en/faq.html#differences

Granted, this doesn't go into depth too much (honestly, it should, perhaps avatar can add that to the to-do list with some sort of direct comparison?). Personally, if I had to make a choice it'd come down to the what each browser's extension APIs limitations are as it's known that all ad-blocking extensions are limited to what each browser's API supports. I'd say, depending on the browser, extensions are able to filter/block 95% up to maybe 98% of what the desktop client can do.

I'm more interested in these weird quirks you're experiencing. Can you describe what you're experiencing and perhaps we can find a solution for you.

    Booberry,

Thank you for replying. I will see if I can replicate what I saw in the past with the full client. I will post them in the appropriate area.

However, I can tell you that running CCleaner and/or CCleaner with ccenhancer, cleaning everything, breaks the plugin.

    Thank you again,

    J

Just to make sure, CCleaner breaks the plugin only after manually started cleaning, or by just being in the background?

Even I had the same question. Now it is cleared. I though have this issue adguard forcing https untrusted connections for me in firefox. I tried the solution in knowledgebase ( https://kb.adguard.com/index.php?/Knowledgebase/Article/View/21/10/the-connection-is-not-trusted ) but did not work for me. It was solved after reinstalling adguard.

He says with the plugin CCEnhancer: https://singularlabs.com/software/ccenhancer/ which ve never used myself

I use ccleaner on a daily basis and not had an issue with the browser plugin on my windows 7 laptop.

I would say the main advantage of the windows application over the extension is that you can use multiple browsers without the need of installing the extension x amount of times and trying to manage multiple adguard lists especially if your adding your own filters.
