AdGuard Home on RaspberryPi doesnt block WhatsApp?

Hey there,

dont know if im right here but... just installed AdGuardHome on Raspberry Pi and found that checkbox "block whatsapp" it seams that it doesnt work at all?
normal chat is still working?

all other services like facebook and co get blocked?

Hello there!

So you have blocked WhatsApp access but still, receive messages on devices on your network?
It looks like a bug. You can leave a report for developers yourself. Or provide detailed information on how to reproduce the problem. I will create the task.

Hey,

yes I installed AdGuard Home on a new Raspberry, set the routers DNS on the Pi´s adress and checked that all devices get the right DNS.
Then I turned on all pre-installed filtes and tested, sites like Instagram, Facebook and co get blocked and WhatsApp doesnt.
Just to be shure i turned off mobile data and restarted my phone, still the same results WhatsApp works the rest doesnt.

I still can send and receive messages, pictures.

I looked through the task archives on GitHub and here's what I found: issue#1158.
Well, I don't think we can fix this, whatsapp app is simply unblocked on the DNS level
So we block only the WhatsApp website.

oh okay... is there any known workaround on that? like blocking on firewall level? Ports or IP adresses - ranges?

I don't think that's possible. Whatsapp uses some algorithms to bypass the locks.
