AdGuard not blocking ads in a browser game

The ad banner on the right side of the screen.

The game also offers players an option to 'disable' ads for 24 hours by spending in-game currency.



Looking at the source code of the ad area:



I see that the offending part is:

1. sticky-banner-container
2. google-sticky-adv-banner__desktop-wrapper google-sticky-adv-banner__desktop-wrapper_hidden google-sticky-adv-banner__desktop-wrapper_with-disable-ad-button

Hi all,

I can report that about an hour ago, after manually updating AdGuard's filters and refreshing the game page, the side bar ads are gone.

Unless the game devs put in another update to re-enable the ads again, I consider the problem solved for now.

Bad news: the problem has appeared again. Yesterday there were no ads, today the ads have appeared again. Looks like the game devs have done something.

I have further tested with other browsers and other adblocker plugins, same issue. Looks like they have hard-coded this 'feature' into the game.

This is the cause of the problem: google-sticky-adv-banner__desktop-wrapper google-sticky-adv-banner__desktop-wrapper_with-disable-ad-button

You may choose to reopen the issue or not, I will leave it up to you.

Edit: I uninstalled and reinstalled AdGuard, cleared the browser's cache, then launched the game again. This time no ads again! I will keep observing this issue and report here if any ads reappear again. AdGuard has served me well for years.
