AdGuard Pro iOS Filtering Question

So there seems to be a lot of posts on this and some confusion since there is a lot of overlap.

In the iOS PRO edition, we have Content Filtering (for Safari Browsing) and DNS Filtering (System-Wide). Just trying to understand if both are required for some reason.

My questions are as follows:
  1. Since there are duplicate filter lists that span both content filtering and DNS filtering, would just enabling DNS filtering with a particular list be sufficient enough, and content filtering can be completely disabled altogether since there is no need for it since DNS filtering is all I require?
  2. If the answer to question 1 is YES, should I just configure a single DNS Filtering list from OISD.NL located here https://abp.oisd.nl/ (AdGuard Compatible Version?) This seems to be the most recommended and comprehensive since it includes every filter list possible combined into one (including all the AdGuard filters). Is there another list that is better? Maybe AdGuard's own SDNS Filter?
  3. If the answer to question 1 is NO. Then does it make sense to enable the OSID for DNS level filtering (to cover system wide) and only enable Content Filters for Safari that are NOT included in the OSID filter (if there are any) to avoid duplication of rules?

I know this is an old post and some people hate when you bump things, but I have had this question forever and I cannot get an answer. Whether it is on Reddit or Twitter ad guard never seems to answer my questions. Honestly it’s the worst customer support I’ve ever had. Either way that’s not why I’m here; it’s just a personal gripe.

I, too, am using their DNS filter on iOS; their custom DNS filter says it includes a bunch of different other filters. I don’t know if that means I can turn off the filters it includes, or if I need them on in order to make the custom DNS filter work.
It says I have too many rules enabled, but all I’m doing is turning on the recommended ones along with the custom DNS one.
I am really struggling to understand this app and not being able to talk to anyone is driving me nuts. I’m also wondering with their DNS filter if I should run it over HTTP? There are a bunch of other options and I don’t know which to choose or why I should. Maybe one is just preferable to another because of security, dependability, or speed?
If you’ve gotten any answers over these years, I would appreciate you sharing them with me. Of course if someone else is reading this and has some information I would really appreciate it as well. Thanks in advance guys.

I still have the SAME question and problem. I don’t understand why they won’t answer this, or fix the software so it isn’t duplicating blocking by using the Safari extensions.

The browser content filtering is just for that, the browser, and the dns filtering is basically for everything on your system device, browser, program applications, and the system programs app’s included too.

I agree with and understand your reply. I'm trying to ask if the extensions… and regardless of the answer… waste resources if they are enabled while jointly using adguard pro iOS app?

Are the extensions doing duplicate work since Adguard Pro and my Linksys router are configured to block everything via Adguard DNS protection (94.140.14.14)?

I'm sure a few of the adguard safari extensions help with hiding the empty spaces left behind, from where ads were blocked via router / Adguard Pro

Overthinking much?

The answer is no. DNS is for system wide and extentions/Safari filters are for Safari. The two don’t interact. Oh, OISD is actually made for laptop/desktop systems. The lite list is for mobile devices. The full list just makes the cpu run harder and slows down latency with lists you probably will not need.

Yes, they are the AdGuard adblocker browser add-on extension and the AdGuard extra add-on extension is only good if you are using the AdGuard adblocker add-on extension is a free content filtering that’s all it does and they also don't work together very well together, but they do make good backups for things that go wrong, and the only browser add-on extension that does work with AdGuard adblocker is the AdGuard Browser Assistant extension this extension controls the AdGuard application program while it's running in the background and the AdGuard mobile app is an awesome app for your whole system, also the DNS filtering is awesome too, and everything else on it too, and the Pro version is the exact same thing as the regular version of AdGuard’s mobile app, the Pro you just don't need ayearly license subscription for it, and a note about the VPN you can't use the AdGuard-VPN browser’s add-on extension with the AdGuard-VPN application program together. And AdGuard works great with the Safari browser they work great on all of my Apple iDevices which I have a few of them. You should look into linking your wifi router to the AdGuard services too. The OISD rules filter, the (big) and (lite) filters are a good filter to use, but you have to add it to the DNS filtering section of any of the AdGuard products even the mobile apps too, for it to work properly on the app. And AdGuard will put a slight drain on the CPU because AdGuard is monitoring all of the stuff on your system the incoming and outgoing Internet traffic, everything else that you do from the startup of your device. I hope this info helps you out in some way.
