AdGuard suddenly not blocking ads when Firefox starts

I think adguard updated to the newest version and now when I start Firefox, ads are not blocked. If I refresh the page, then it starts working. Also, the icon now takes a while to go from greyed out to green when Firefox starts, which I think is why it won't block ads at startup.

Issue is identical to this that has happened to adblock in the past.

Yep, I've noticed that and I've been aware of it happening to Adblock Plus too in the past.

Thanks Boo; did it just start happening recently for you? It did for me. Before, Adguard would load very fast and immediately start blocking ads on browser startup. I think it has to do with version 1.0.3.8

By default Adguard initializes in parallel with Firefox.
So we may be not ready to work when the first site is opened.

You can switch Adguard into synchronous initialization if you change one property in about:config
extensions.adguardadblocker@adguard.com.speedup_startup

This doesn't seem to do anything, actually. I've tried it (homepage is https://news.google.com/) and on first load the Adguard icon doesn't indicate any blocked ads, nor does it turn blue when Adguard for Windows is detected. Reloading the page makes it work correctly. I'm pretty sure this is a Firefox limitation. Maybe a feature is needed to quick reload the page once the extension initializes?

That's another bug, but in this case bug is not on our side.

The problem is that add-on does not see this first request (API method is not called).
So we can't check if response is filtered by AG and also we can't indicate the number of blocked ads.
