The objective was to block the ads within the application. So why unblocking the domain? Sorry but I still do not get the logic here.

Sometimes, the websites detect ad blocking presence (by making some test request that is usually blocked) and change the way of showing ads to something much more complicated.

I guess that's what was going on in this case.
