Apple Silicon (M1) support planned?

Hi

I note AdGuard is one of my few applications still running Intel-only. Is there support for Apple Silicon/M1 processors planned, and any ETA?

There's already support for Apple Silicon in the AdGuard for Mac nightly version, has been since April. No ETA when it lands in beta or stable though.

Hello there! @twynne

Unfortunately no. But you can write to me at PM and I generate a temporary license key that can be used on the Nightly version.

Four months is an awfully long time for the software to not even make it into beta. Is it a matter of testing out compatibility with Monterey so there will be one stable version covering the it, as well as Big Sur?

Well, unfortunately it takes time before things a) all the things they want to add to a milestone has been added and b) for it to be stable enough to push it to beta then stable. Around here it's not unheard of to take months before something hits beta, for example AG for Android 4.0 has been in the nightly channel longer than that and it's still not ready for beta yet.

Fact of the matter is there's no urgent need to push native M1 support as AG for Mac will work fine on an M1-based Mac because of Rosetta 2. While that's not as ideal as running a native version, the performance is pretty close to native x86_64 thanks to Rosetta 2.

Not sure if you saw the PM, but the temporary license has now expired and I don't believe the Setapp version is yet supporting M1. Are you able to help with an extension or advise when the Setapp version will be updated? Is it worth trying the MacOS beta instead?

Thank you. I believe a key is still needed for the beta? I've applied (twice if not mistaken) but not had a response on it as yet.
