Are we still protected?

ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) – the organisation responsible for allocating domain names and IP addresses for the Internet – has been hacked, potentially compromising its customers’ names, email addresses, hashed passwords, and more.

Not shure anyone can do anything about it. We will have to be more careful when logging into a website.

That’s true but as isaid nothing is safe one hundred percent in the internet that’s why people like me prefer filter dns /safe dns blocks dangerous websites and adult ones and had great performances

I understand but the attack on Icann is not related to what you are saying. Adguard cannot do anything about it.
The attack is targeting the WWW infrastructure. It is a major breach. It affects the global system of web traffic. The cyberattack targets the DNS which routes traffic to intended online destinations. It has a potential to snoop on data along the way, sneakily send the traffic elsewhere or enable the attackers to impersonate or spoof critical websites like governments, intelligence services, police, airlines, the oil industry corporate institutions or banks.
This is roughly equivalent to someone lying to the post office about your address, checking your mail, and then hand delivering it to your mailbox.

Icann specialist: "With that access, they could temporarily break portions of how the internet works. They chose to intercept and spy on folks."

What you said happened to me before is isp changed my dns and get hacked tons of times but as isaid there is way can adguard do which I really hope is they do proxy bypass hijack of isp and of course adguard or any other company like google or Apple can’t do anything to that but at least they can notify their members or reset their account passwords
