Up until yesterday, you could block YouTube Ads by enabling HTTPS filtering and using any YouTube APK ver. from 11.13.56 and downwards. I don't know what happened, but since today, 01:00 a.m. Adguard no longer blocks ads in any YouTube app version. I started with 11.07.59 and worked my way up to the latest build. None of them did work. So I guess this is a server side thing.

I already reset my Adguard installation. Tried the latest beta. No. Still the same. Ads. Ads everywhere. Am I really going to have to root? FFS YouTube, if you don't want me to block your intrusive ads, give me YouTube Red in my country, already!

Thanks, all of you. I'm seriously impressed. Every time I have a question I get answers unlike on any other support forum for any other product. I'm gonna wait for you guys final response on the matter before I root.

Unfortunately I can't edit my OP or my last post, so I have to make a new one.

I found a somewhat OK way to get rid of YouTube ads without root. The solution's named "OG YouTube" which you can download from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2213945
It's the regular YouTube app but with a few neat extras.

You need to download and install two apps for this to work.

1. microG for OGYT (http://www.mediafire.com/file/aq4jblmacccd3za/microG+for+OGYT+(v1.0).apk)
2. OG YouTube (http://www.mediafire.com/file/6j7wg5kyj15fcw7/OGYouTube+v2.1.apk)

Both links I copied from OG Mods original download page which you can find here: http://ogmods.net/home/ogyoutube?ref=xda&tab=Download

After you downloaded both apks, transfer them to your phone and follow these steps:

1. First, you have to disable or uninstall the original YouTube App.
2. install microG for OGYT (v1.0).apk
3. install OG YouTube apk

Optionally, you're gonna want to login to your Google Account within the OG YouTube app. That's it. After you enable AdGuard, you should no longer see ads.

Here's the drawback however. Apps with built in YouTube players (not sure if this is the correct way to say it) won't recognize OG YouTube, or OG YouTube doesn't provide these apps with a media player. So apps like Relay for Reddit will ask you to enable the original YouTube app when you click on a video link.

Yes, this solution was posted somewhere on the forum previously (probably, in the Russian branch). Good to have it around in English language too, thanks.

Since ~3 pm (CET/MEZ) the method I posted above no longer works. OGYouTube can't establish a network connection if your connected to your Google Account using latest OGYouTube and MicroG For OGYT. Will keep this updated. It doesn't matter if your have Adguard enabled or not. It doesnt work either way. Only way it works is by removing your Google Account from within the app or by deleting app data for OGYouTube and MicroG For OGYT.

Device details:

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge (G935F)
Android 7.0

UPDATE:

An older version of OGYouTube does still work and you can even login to your account. You also DON'T have to disable the regular YouTube app. However, it's since it's a modded version of a relatively old version of the YouTube app, some things you might already gotten used to in the newer app aren't there. Things like auto play and auto playlist.

XDA Senior member Zeuszoos has kindly put together a downloadable archive with the instructions on how to install it. Download from the link below and follow the instructions within the archive.

Nevermind. Just opened again and ads are back.

Uptodown website said: "it is VERY IMPORTANT that you don't log in with your account on OGYouTube apknite. If you do, you won't be able to download videos anymore. For this reason, it's very important not to log in." What? no descriptions about ads blocking. Actually, there are interesting and useful ads sometimes.
