Hi,
I'm a new to AdGuard. I installed the main AdGuard app on my Mac, but I don't see the AdGuard Assistant extension in my browser--it isn't showing up in Safari or Chrome. Is there something I should be looking for to know it's installed in Chrome or Safari?
So after installing AdGuard, did the "AdGuard assistant" appear in the bottom right corner of the screen?
Please specify, do you use third-party antivirus or VPN?
If you click on that lock what security certificate does it show?
One of the features of the MAC operating system:
If an antivirus is loaded first, it will pass all traffic through itself. If AdGuard is loaded first, it will be able to assign filtering to itself. And unfortunately, nothing can be managed here.
So try to disable the antivirus and reboot the system, any luck?
I'm having this same issue. I did a fresh install of macOS 10.15.4 on my MacBook Pro. I have no VPN and no Anti-virus installed. The AdGuard Assistant icon is not appearing on any website. I tried reinstalling the entire AdGuard application and reinstalling just the Assistant plugin, neither made a difference. I was running macOS 10.15.4 prior to the fresh install (it was upgraded from a previous 10.15 version) on this same system and it worked fine. It's still running fine on my Mac mini which is also running 10.15.4. So, my suspicion is that some default setting in 10.15.4 that didn't exist in previous versions of 10.15 is preventing it from running.
Further follow up: After reading your suggestion of installing the nightly build in the "Adguard not working right since updating to 10.15.4", I tried that. I'm getting a different results now but it's still not working. To clarify, I use Safari as my browser.
I now see an AdGuard Assistant Extension in the Extensions tab in my Safari preferences. I did not see this prior to installing the Nightly build. I checked that, restarted Safari, and went to a website. I still don't see the usual AdGuard Assistant icon which hovers over the page bottom right corner of the page. I do see an AdGuard Assistant icon in next to the URL box in Safari which is new. It has a Pause icon inside it. When clicking the icon, I see some setting and a switch stating it's disabled for this page. Anytime I try to enable it, it turns back off by itself, regardless of what page I'm on. Above that switch it the URL of whatever site I'm on with a small lock icon next to it.
To be clear, I've never seen this interface before. I assume it's the legacy interface which was around before I started using AdGuard about six months ago. I double checked on my Mac mini and none of the new things I'm seeing as I described are present and AdGuard Assistant is working fine.
The Browser Assistant extension AKA the AdGuard Assistant Extension (the one added to Safari) is going to replace the little Assistant icon that hovers in web pages in the next major AG for Mac version.
The Browser Assistant is new, only landing in the AG for Mac nightly builds recently so the stable builds don't have it yet.
Thanks for the clarification on the extension, BooBerry. Any idea how I can get the Safari extension to be enabled? It's listed as enabled in the AdGuard Preferences and Safari Preferences. But when I click the Extension icon, it lists it Disabled for this Site. When trying to enable it, the switch turns green briefly, the site reloads, and then the switch immediately turns off again.
If you want to fully disable it, you'll have to go into Safari's Preferences > Extensions section and uncheck the AdGuard Assistant Extension.
The protection disable toggle within the AdGuard Assistant Extension itself disables the protection on a site-by-site basis and there's no way to disable protection on all sites that way.
Sorry, maybe I wasn't clear. I'd like to ENABLE it for all sites. Currently, it's marked disabled for all sites despite it being marked as enabled in the AdGuard preferences and Safari preferences. When I try to enable it for a site, it just disables itself again after the page reloads.
