Can I set the intervall for it. Maybe 24h, 12h, every 1h and the first start and the internet connection.

Or how othen will it be checked? I run the pc and dont get automatic that an update is ready. Only after I check the function manual.

I believe it's currently set between 8 hours to 12 hours, maybe longer. The time period has changed a couple times during the testing of the 5.10 beta.

I think higher is done to safe traffic maybe but I like the idea not to look for a new release manual and got a check on the first start of my pc and I am online.

Today I have done it and got a newer release. If I dont do this I dont see that a new beta is released :(

Hi All,

I have to agree with hanschke as a BETA tester. I'm not receiving the latest Beta updates automatically (Filters I understand), if I don't go and look for them manually I'd never know there was a new version released. Why can't I as a Beta tester get the latest release automatically updated, that doesn't make sense?

Hi all!

What are we talking about? Program update or filters update?

Program update

First update check occurs in 15 minutes after Adguard Service startup.
Further actions depend on the Automatic update option.

Automatic update enabled

Adguard silently downloads update package and stores it in temp folder. On the next computer startup Adguard looks for this update package and if everything is ok it starts update.

We do this on computer startup because Adguard may need to update network driver and startup is the safest time to do it.

Automatic update disabled

Adguard shows popup message about new version available after update check.

The flaw there, however, is that some people don't reboot/shutdown their PCs at regular intervals. Most just use sleep/hibernate.

Automatic update is not supposed to be fast. It supposed to be silent:).

So if you want to discover updates faster it's better to disable it and wait for notification.

I manually check for updates several times daily anyways, so it's not an issue for me. :D

So if I turn off Auto-update I will get notifications about new versions. Does this option disable auto-update for filters and extensions?

Thanks Avatar as Boo points out I reboot my machine only when necessary, like a Windows update or after a Power Failure, so now it's nice to see if I uncheck Auto Updates I'll get a notification, how long does that notification present itself? I hope I don't have to be sitting at my computer to see it?

One thing to note about program Update is that it does not work when Parental Control is enabled and settings are protected with a password.

Not very long so it's possible to miss it.
The better solution is to somehow highlight the current version (notifying that new version is available).
We should do it in 6.0.

Cannot reproduce it. Could you be more specific?

If you enable parental control to protect the application with a password, Adguard no longer updates automatically for me.
