Block a domain (website) & it's sub-domains (prefixs)

Hi, I (with another account; almost 2 years ago) had asked about how to block complete domains and found out I could do it with -
“*example.com^$empty
to block HTTPS tunnels
For an HTTPS tunnel to the domain - example.com or another.example.com

*example.com$app=com.adguard.dns
to block DNS requests.
For a DNS request to the domain - example.com or another.example.com

But it appears that this method isn't working anymore, can somebody confirm?
And suggest an alternative method to block a whole domain (with sub-domains)?

Screenshot: Contains an example where the website crashlytics.com has been blocked but still works and isn't effected.
On the left is the Filter Log & the right are the User filters (both filtered for the word “crashlytics”)
(Also ignore the black theme, using Swift installer to achieve it)

||*domain.com is invalid. Remove || of *
To block DNS requests DNS filtering must be enabled. With this mode ||domain.com^ will block domain.com by DNS.

Correct me if I'm wrong.
I should make rules like ||example.com^ right?
Nothing else?
