Facebook lite and Instagram lite will not start with Adguard enabled

I'm using the latest version of Adguard and wanted to switch from Facebook and Instagram to their lite alternatives, however neither of these apps start with Adguard enabled, they hang at the startup screen until they timeout with a message that internet is not available.

When I disable Adguard they start fine and keep working after I enable Adguard again. In the logs I do not see any block messages that seem related to this issue.

I have tried disabling all Adguard features one by one to see if it started working to no avail, like DNS or https filtering.

The weird thing is that this is only happening over WiFi, when I connect with Adguard enabled over 4g they both startup fine. But if it has to do with the WiFi why do both apps start over WiFi with Adguard disabled?

Facebook lite and Instagram lite are the only two apps that have this issue, even the regular versions start normally.

I am experiencing this same issue with Facebook Lite app on wifi and tried with mobile data after reading your post. Indeed the app works fine on mobile data with AdGuard but not wifi. I'm baffled.

Go into AG for Android's Apps Management, find the Lite apps and disable AdGuard protection for them. Since AG for Android can't filter/remove ads from the Facebook and Instagram apps, it won't matter regardless.

If that doesn't work, it might be related to DNS filtering if you have that enabled.

Thanks, tried disabling pretty much all features like DNS filtering already, didn't change anything. That would also not explain why this issue occurs on WiFi only whereas on mobile data both apps work fine. I also tried connecting to a different WiFi network with the same results. It seems connected to the combination of Adguard, Facebook lite apps and WiFi.

Same result here. These apps only work on wifi when the AdGuard protection for them is turned off entirely, not just the blocking.

I found this same issue posted to Cloudflair back in 2019, and it seemed related to DNS settings on the router. I'm going to play with this later just because I'm curious, but it still doesn't make any sense to me because it's only happening with the specific combination of Lite apps on wifi being routed through AdGuard even with ad filtering and with DNS filters disabled.

I usually don't run whatever FB related app I'm using through AdGuard on Android for the reason Boo Berry gave among others, but my brain still wants to know why this specific combination breaks things.

That problem indeed seems exactly the same as the issue i am experiencing, although for me it does not seem DNS related.

I have tried turning off Adguard DNS filtering entirely and choosing a different DNS from Adguard's like Google DNS but the issue remains.

Sometimes it helps for a short while to turn off and on WiFi, after that it works for a while even on WiFi.

Hello,
Same issue for me. Instagram app (regular not lite) is not working anymore with Adguard on on my home wifi network but is working fine on LTE. Deactivating or changing filterings on AG app doesn't change a thing.
Also i remember there is a place i work in sometimes where when connected to their wifi network absolutely nothing works with Adguard on. Could it be related to certificate issue?
