Filters - numbers limitation

Hi.

I reduced the numbers of filters used on my iPhone. To day I have the minimum I could get.

However I have 49K+ filters and soon il will reach the 50K.

I guess the same concern will face everyone, so will be the recommendation then?

Thanks.b.

I believe the limitation is down to Apple/iDevices rather than AdGuard.
Yes it is. My question is what will we do as we are reaching thi limitation with fewer and fewer filters which are including more and more rule ?

At the present time the only solution I found is to use a VPN service as Perfect Privacy, which provides filters.

Yes, good question. Eventually we’ll end up having to disable more & more filters to keep under the limit which may end up allowing some ads through.

Somehow I found a solution.
For instance I disabled Adguard English filter and chose Easy list instead. Same thing for the French one.
In fact, by choosing other filters than Adguard ones, you reduced the number of rules.
I guess it is better this way than disabling a whole filter.

Just my 2cents feedback.

Adguard on macOS works great, but what about iOS? Again due to iOS rules limitation, I had to deleted many filters to end up mainly with "Simplified Domain Names" one that does not work as good as a "normal" filter.

I never get an answer from Adguard team about their vision or roadmap regarding this concern.

Also, I recently subscribe to PerfectPrivacy VPN which offers also TrackStop solution against Ads, Malware, Fake News, Social Media... It works great for a browsing experience but also within iOS apps. It kills all ads banners or popup windows ads. Let's be honest I was pretty impressed but it.

I will keep Adguard running on my Mac, but on my iOS devices, I do not see the relevance anymore.

The Safari content blocker limit also exists on macOS if you're using Safari and adblocking browser extensions.

As for iOS, the alternative to the Safari content blocker is using the AdGuard DNS (which you can use it alongside the Safari content blocker) which does not have a limit, as it does not use the Safari content blocker. Setting up the AdGuard DNS requires manual setup, but once it place it *should* work just as well, IMO.

Hi.

If your check my signature I am not using the browser extension but the application itself. So I have no issue with any limitation :)

Regarding iOS, I did try the DNS option, but it is not as good as PP TrackStop which really kills ads with iOS applications. Something that Adguard DNS was not very good at. Sorry but it is just the truth. And like "Saint Thomas" I just trust what I see :)

I know, I was just pointing out that the limit is there in macOS too for Safari (with adblocking extension users).
