Filters only update when I open the app

AdGuard seems to work fine on my iOS devices, but the filters seem never to update in the background. They get stale until I happen to open the app to check settings etc. The "last updated" date has been weeks or months in the past sometimes. Help?

First of all, do not swipe Adguard from the list of recent/launched apps.
The thing is that when you do it, iOS won't ever let us run background update operation.

Frankly, background refresh functionality, which we use for updating filters, is not very reliable. iOS controls when it should be called. And if you don't open app often enough, iOS just does not call it.

Not really, it registers a content blocker, and after that iOS won't run it.

@Rev. Chip Downcast uses push notifications, doesn't it? I suspect that this is the main difference, push notifications increase app's priority when system decides who should run background updates. We chose not to go that way though, as it would be extremely irritating for users to receive a notification every time filter updates are available.

Also, we admit that our current background update algorithm is not perfect and we seek for ways to improve it.
