When I use AdGuard android from here. Is it updated automatically or does it have to be done manually ?

Reason I ask is because I won't be the one using it sense it is for family and I myself use iOS. Never really used the app on Android before.

Do you mean app updates or filter updates? Both can be done automatically and manually. AdGuard for Android will alert you if a new version of the app is available. Filter updates are done in the background at whatever interval you have them set to (I believe the default is every 12 hours).

When installing, yes. Because it basically downloads the APK and prompts the user to install it when you're installing updates. Unfortunately it's something that can't be automatically done in the background.
