https://forum.adguard.com - favicons

I have got following custom rules to block favicons (I hate them).

$$link[rel="icon"]
$$link[rel="Icon"]
$$link[rel="ICON"]
*.ico*
*favicon*

However they began to showing up on this forum recently. Yet a few days back they were all blocked. What happened or have changed that they cannot be blocked now? I want to block them again.

Huh, generally $generichide shouldn't mess with $$ rules.

@pegas please let me know if disabling of that rule helps.

Added to user filter. Where should I disable it? And does it make a difference?
The rule is in the English filter and it really shouldn't matter.

Do you still use Opera? Could it be that forum's favicon is cached there?

Yes. But I regularly clear cache using CCleaner. I have made interesting observation. When I run the forum for the first time after cleaning Opera's cache, it shows the generic favicon (small black sheet) but within a fraction of second the favicon changes back Adguard's favicon.

What if you try some other browser just in case? I remember this case, favs were deeply cached and simple browser cache cleanup didn't help.

Yeah, went more deeply in to Opera folders and it seems that folder Local Storage at "c:\Users\xxx\AppData\Roaming\Opera Software\Opera Stable\" stores the information about Adguard site what probably triggers the Adguard favicon to show up.

EDIT: Can you something do to remove the favicons?

Chrome stores favicons data here:
Code:
%localappdata%\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Favicons
Opera:
Code:
%appdata%\Opera Software\Opera Stable\Favicons
Does it help to remove those files in your case?

You'll also need to add this rule to the user filter:
Code:
*ico*$domain=forum.adguard.com
@Alex302 is right, $genericblock exception rule does not allow to block forum's favs.

Thanks @avatar. The code did the trick BUT I cannot now post on to forum because when clicking on Post Reply I get an error, see below.

Your favicon is pretty stubborn. Your site is only one when I'm getting the favicons. :)

Huh, I guess it would be better if we fix the English filter on our side instead.

@Alex302 can't we change it to something like this instead?
Code:
@@||forum.adguard.com/index.php$xmlhttprequest

OK, these codes co-exist well and favicons are finally gone :)
Code:
*ico*$domain=forum.adguard.com
Code:
@@||forum.adguard.com/index.php$xmlhttprequest
