I wish AdGuard Pro iOS could remove ads like Windows version of AdGuard Pro

It sucks.

I hate how sometimes a placeholder is left where the ad was in certain news apps.

Sadly, ad blocking options is pretty limited on iOS (e.g. DNS filtering) - it's way more limiting than Android in comparison. There's not much that can be done about it either. Placeholders in apps would likely require patching of the apps themselves which isn't possible.
