Microsoft Rewards weirdness

I am signed up for Microsoft Rewards and am finding that with AG running, I'm experiencing erratic behaviour in some aspects of the Microsoft Rewards program.

For example, they often run quizzes for bonus rewards points from the main Dashboard (https://account.microsoft.com/rewards/dashboard). When launching, they load a Bing Search page and then perform an overlay when they provide quiz questions and the Bing page underneath can be used to search for answers, or when you select a correct answer to the quiz question, it will load a page related to the answer.

With AG running, I find that sometimes, the Quiz overlay sometimes doesn't get produced over the launched Bing page. I've also encountered situations where it will keep reloading the same quiz question (caching issue?) or get the answers out of sync (i.e. none of the provided answers are deemed to be correct).

Disabling AG in each case has resolved the issue.

I'm running AG 6.1.331.1732 on Windows 10 x64 (Build 16170) and Microsoft Edge 40.16170.1000.0/Microsoft EdgeHTML 15.16170

Likely filter devs have to use Teamviewer on your computer or VPN (and US Microsoft account) due to this:

Currently, only US residents located in the US can sign up for Microsoft Rewards.


You may try to disable single filter lists to see which filter breaks it.
Also please post a HAR file.

@AnthonyB I wasn't able to reproduce it. How often does it happen to you? Does it happen in other browsers than Edge? What filters do you use?

That is not correct. Last month it was opened up to Australia. [source] I know, not Russia. But the program is opening up over coming months.

It is erratic but I encounter it at least every few days.
I'm only using Edge so will see if it happens in Chrome next time I get a repro.
Filters used: English, Spyware, Annoyances, Adblock Warning Removal, Anti-Adblock Killer | Reek, Malware Domains, Spam404

@AnthonyB I was testing in Chrome with English, Spyware, Annoyances and Social filters, using the US VPN. No trace of said problem seen. Please report back when you have a chance to check it in some other browser.

Another repro of this issue today (it had been fine last few days).
Repro with both Edge (41.16193.1001.0/EdgeHTML 15.16193) and Chrome (58.0.3029.110 (64-bit)).
In both cases same repro steps:

1. Open https://account.microsoft.com/rewards/dashboard
2. Scroll down to the Coffee Break Quiz
3. Click link on Coffee Break Quiz tile which opens a new tab at https://www.bing.com/search?q=What is geography?&raid=quiz&rnoreward=1&FORM=ML12JG&rqw=1&skipopalnative=true&rqpiodemo=1&roid=ENAU_MicrosoftRewardsQuiz20170516a
4. With AG on, I just get the Bing search results page. With AG disabled, I get the Bing search results page PLUS the Microsoft Rewards quiz overlay banner.

How would you like me to proceed?

Please try updating Adguard to the latest beta version.

By the way, do you use Stealth Mode? If yes, what options exactly are enabled?

Thanks Vasily, I've turned on the beta channel and am now running 6.2.357.1887.

Yes, I do have Stealth Mode enabled.

Specific Stealth Mode settings enabled:

• Hide your search queries
• Send Do-Not-Track header
• Remove X-Client-Data header from HTTP requests
• Self-destructing third-party cookies [30]
• Disable cache for third-party requests
• Block WebRTC
• Hide your Referrer from third-parties
• Hide your IP address

I tried to reproduce the problem once again with all these Stealth Mode options enabled, but still nothing.

Is it possible to set up a remote control session via TeamViewer? If you are fine with this variant, please PM me.

I'll test daily to see what happens. I need to wait a few days for the next quiz to be offered up to see if I can repro the issue.

I was offered up a quiz today and everything went well. There was one page element on the final completion screen that was missing but this didn't affect the quiz.
I'll wait until I have another 1-2 quizzes to validate findings.
