OnePlus 6: Adguard stops blocking

I am having a strange problem that I can't quite pin down. Upon booting my OnePlus 6, AdGuard works as advertised and blocks ads. Without fail, within a day or so, AdGuard, while continuing to run, ceases to block ads even though it is enabled. I can confirm this either by reviewing the filtering log, which stops updating, or going to any site with ads.

I don't know that this is specific to the OnePlus 6, but has anyone had this issue?

I have the same problem too.
Let me explain. ..
I have realized the the problem occurs when we go from Wi-Fi connection to cellular data connection and vice versa . The programme is green, is up and running, but cannot filter and block anything .Even if I stopped it and activate it again, nothing is happening . The only solution is to restart the phone.
How do we lock the programme to backround; It's not an application to press it down Depon the running programmes and lock it with the locker.. .

@Chris Albanese

Hello!

This is a "feature" of Oxygen OS, try to lock the application in the background.
Something definitely seems to be wrong on the OP6. Even with the app allowed to run in the background, set to not optimize battery, and the app "locked", it still stops blocking adds. I'm happy to run a debug build if needed to help find a usuable workaround if it's a ROM issue. Seeing ads constantly after so much adless bliss is horrifying.

Hello!

Try to set Watchdog Period from 5 to 10.

AdGuard - Settings - Advanced.

Does not work either that way. We still have to reboot once a day the phone. The strange thing about that problem is that you have to reboot the phone to work normally. Everything else is not working.

@Dimitris Panourgias

Are you talking about OP6 and Oxygen OS + AdGuard?

If so, BG killer is highest priority process and can't be regulated or managed by us. This is a "feature" of Oxygen OS.

It's not just an AdGuard application :)

Could you be so kind to try out Nightly version? - https://agrd.io/android_nightly
The problem is not the background killer .
The app works fine during the day, but there is a possibility to stop filtering (even if it's shows green and active) after switching from Wi-Fi to cellular data and vice versa.

The other major problem is that adguard is not working back, after disable and enable it again .

Are you sure you understand the problem ?

Now I'm in the nightly version .We'll see .

And oddly, the ads are back. No app or system setting changes or ROM updates in between.
Can you provide more info about returned ads? Is https filtering on? Ads in browser/app? What DNS do you use and version of your AdGuard?

HTTPS filtering is on. Ads seem to be everywhere. Chrome (and obviously anything using Chrome/WebView like Feedly), Firefox, in-app adds, etc. No DNS set. AdGuard 2.11.

A cursory examination or my wife's OnePlus 5T shows that her older AdGuard 2.10 build is working fine, even without using watchdog to keep it alive (she has HTTPS on but all other settings are default). I'll try exporting her config and importing it to my device, but so far things still seem wonky on the OP6 . She doesn't have DNS or proxy or other things set either.

I imported the config from her 5T just to rule out an inadvertant AG setting change on my side, but no luck. Even after a reboot I'm getting ads that she isn't. Screenshots from my and her device of a random news story attached.

I'll poke around and try to find the older 2.10 APK that she is running when I get a chance.

Running the nightly now. And unfortunately a new variable with the OxygenOS OTA that just came out. I've turned off watchdog and so far so good. But I'll report back if it stops working again.
There are some issues with OxygenOS BG killer :\

That's happening with all applications, not only with AdGuard.

Text me back if there will be any news:)

I can confirm that on my OP 6 Adguard filtering is turned off when I turn off wi-fi, after waking the phone from sleep, after a restart. I can however restore filtering inside Adguard again, but it's a complete pain in the *ss to have to keep pushing that button. This is recent behavior I didn't have these problems last week. Tried it with latest stable release as well as latest beta.
