As per the title.

My mother has an Android smartphone (Huawei P30 Pro) which, even in her 80's, she can just about use. The absolute bane of my life though is that, despite my best efforts, she will only ever use the search bar widget to search for things online.

I've got AdGuard installed on her phone which works fine if she uses Chrome "properly" but she won't. So whenever she searches for something via this widget, she'll almost inevitably get a row of adverts in the search results which she'll usually tap on to look at.

She'll also get a ton of ads and cookie pop-ups if she looks at other sites via the search bar widget and I'm constantly having to remove random apps that seem to have been drive-by installations as well.

So is it possible ?. Or am I just not setting it up properly ?.

Or should I ditch Chrome for Brave since it has a built in adblocker ?. I believe that has a search bar widget that I can use which might keep my headaches down to about 10 a week :)

Thanks in advance.

No since that widget is an app and not the Chrome browser.

Thanks again. So I'm assuming it's just better to avoid the search bar widget completely then if you can't block ads with any browser ?

If you search via normal browser ads are blocked.

Yes I'm aware of that but I was just wondering if there was any solution for search bar widgets for any browser.

If there isn't, there isn't.
