Q: Application Update Notification?

Hi

I bought (lifetime) and installed AdGuard for Android v2.0.67 some time back and I'm sure I received an email informing me of a software update but I can't find it in my gmail archive so I might be mistaken.

Anyhow I've not been by the site for quite a while and was running 2.1.240 however I see that 2.1.267 was release just about a month ago. I was under the assumption that the "Check Updates" option would advise me of a newer release of AdGuard but either I'm mistaken or it's not working. What's the best way of being notified of a new release without having to drive-by the site on a daily bases to check?

Please be gentle, I'm still new :)
Thanks

I always get a notification when there is an update. I just checked my version, and it's current, along with the filter list (Showing last updated today). What version are you running? In the settings there is an option for Release and Beta. Maybe you have Beta checked?

Hi,

I think we're talking at cross purposes here. The filters/rules update fine and the software seems to take care of that by itself. I'm speaking specifically about the software upgrades. When I started using AdGuard, version 2.0.67 was the current release, then on Oct 29th, I got an email that talked about how AdGuard was now available for the Iphone and in the same email was a notification to upgrade the Android version. Which I did, that was to version 2.1.240. Neither the software nor via email has since indicated that that another new version was available. I've been on 2.1.240 for over a month now, when I discovered that 2.1.267 was available. I'm now currently running 2.1.267 which I manually downloaded and installed. Looking at the release schedule, I see that I completely missed 2.1.177 update.

So I'm asking is what's the best way to be (automatically) notified when a new release is available without having to check the website all the time. The software is certainly not telling me when a new version is available? and I have double checked that I'm not opting in for the Beta (specifically because I thought you needed a special unlock key for it)

Hope that clears up what I'm asking?

Thanks

I am talking about the actual application, and not just the filters. I just mentioned them. When 2.1.177 was released I received a notification that an update was ready. Just like when you get a text or any other notification. I don't know why you are not getting them.

I wonder if it's a Marshmallow problem? I'm using a unrooted stock MRA58N Nexus 6.

In the meantime, I've created a Tasker profile to monitor the Android change log page and notify me if it changes. It not an optimal solution but I think it'll do the job.

Thanks

Check Updates option does checks for both filters and app update, so it's strange that you do not see the notification.

Could it be that you've disabled notifications for the app?

I'm pretty sure I didn't disable notifications but I've reset my phone and reinstalled just the basic apps. I'll keep an eye on the situation and see if anything changes. I'll update this thread when I know for sure.

Thanks

Hi Avatar,

Just wanted to close out this thread by confirming that I *did* get a notification and option to upgrade to the new (current) 2.1.359 version of AdGuard. I suspect my problem was caused by another applications (Tasker & Autonotification) and my inexperience with same.

Thanks
