Hi,

Running Firefox on a MAC with the Adguard plugin installed. Parts of the Adguard plugin that are running include the following:

English filterVersion 1.1.11.62. Updated 12 march 2017 at 09:08.
Spyware filterVersion 1.0.10.91. Updated 10 march 2017 at 08:01.
Annoyances filterVersion 1.0.10.74. Updated 10 march 2017 at 09:25.
Adblock Warning Removal ListVersion 1.0.76.28. Updated 12 march 2017 at 05:34.
Anti-Adblock Killer | ReekVersion 1.0.1.68. Updated 2 december 2016 at 11:09.

The following website is one a few that thinks it is so cute in detecting Adguard. How do I fix this for this as well as other websites? I tried Adguard because I was unhappy with other Ad blockers. I am looking for a relatively easy way to update Adguard without entering the master script or whatever it is Adguard uses.

I also noticed that when I click open the settings the following appears in my FF address bar:

chrome://adguard/content/options.html

Chrome has never been installed on my MAC and I have no plans to install it. Just odd that thinks it opening a Chrome plugin when the browser in use is FF.

Thanks.

Greetings and welcome!

I can answer this. References to Chrome in Firefox actually mean this: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Chrome_URLs and this: https://www.howtogeek.com/149271/why-does-firefox-use-the-chrome-protocol-in-internal-schemas/

Basically it predates the Chrome browser itself and actually has nothing to do with the browser Chrome.

Typically when reporting an anti-adblock warning, it needs to be reported in the Missed Ads section (until if/when it gets its own forum section).

Is it on the cbssports.com homepage? I'm not seeing it here, might need to see a screenshot of it or a direct sample (e.g. a video URL where it appears).

I'll move this topic to the appropriate section and rename it. :)

Ad left-over and taboola left-over in an article:
Code:
cbssports.com##div[data-component="adsLeaderboardCollapse"]
cbssports.com##.taboola-recommends

Hi Blaz,

Help out a newbie. So what tool and where do I go to add this code in you graciously provided? Would I use the same code for other sites? Also, what is being blocked is not necessarily an add, but the website is blocking access to a video. From checking other links on the same website they appear to be doing the same thing. While I await you or someone else to reply I will try to figure this out.

You add those rules to your user filter in Adguard's settings (each rule in a new line)

It depends on the site, the same code is not working for other sites).

Please provide a link to the video which is not working.

One example from the site:

http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/t-j-lang-chooses-lions-over-packers-seahawks-as-detroit-keeps-rebuilding-line/

It appears no matter where you go within the site if you try to view a video associated with an article it shoots up the message about detecting an ad blocker.

I could provide other examples, but I think this one should do as a starting point.

I had gone to user filter and pasted the code in, flushed by cache and restarted and it still did not work.

Thanks for quick reply back.

Not reproduced.

The rules I posted are for other items on the site, not for that adblock detection.

Not sure of a work around, but the Anti-Adblock Killer | Reek has not been updated in quite a while. So for now I guess I will have to live with this unless you or someone else comes up with something.

Thanks for due diligence in checking into this.

Hi,

Is there anything similar to Anti-Adblock Killer that Reek posts? I am finding alot more sites are throwing this back in your face that they know your running an Ad Block. Ideas and suggestions welcome. Can Reek's code be modified to include ones like the one I posted? How easy?

Adblock Protector is an actively developed fork of Anti-Adblock Killer, but it can't fully be added in Adguard yet until support for the filter list is added.

Looks like you can't add Adblock Protector in the browser extensions (probably the next extension beta will contain it, hopefully).

That said, any Anti-Adblock issues can be dealt with within the Adguard browser extension, assuming one of the filter devs can reproduce the Anti-Adblock being encountered on the website.

This site loads an obfuscated Javascript file to check whether adblocker is enabled, from a domain rackcdn.com. From a comment in JS, evidently this script is from PageFair.
Their method of detecting adblocker does not detect standalone Adguard softwares, they only detect adblocking browser extensions. It seems that they check for status codes of blocked requests.

Blocking their JS file makes the site does not trigger the adblock detection screen.

Added to English filter:
Code:
||cf5.rackcdn.com^$script,domain=cbssports.com
Please, check the result.

Appears to be working on this site. Before when it detected the ad blocker it was blocking videos from playing.

I want to say there is a couple other big new sites that are detecting ad blockers that I frequent. I will post if I

find them, but as far as this goes it can be marked resolved by the moderator of the forum.
