The Verge = Missing Images At Random

This topic describe an issue with images not loading on the Verge. I first noticed this during the beta testing phase of 5.10 but it was pretty random. I've now had time to look into the issue closer and run some tests (e.g. Adguard for Windows testing, network driver testing, filter lists testing, testing the extensions on Windows and other operating systems looking for filter issues, etc.) and thus I have come to a few conclusions;

1) The issue occurs in all browsers on Windows, including IE11.

2) The issue happens even when all filters are disabled (English and user filters).

3) The images don't load up over time, they seem to never load up at all.

4) The issue happens only in Adguard for Windows. When just using the browser extensions in Windows, Mac OS X and Ubuntu, there's no issue present even with the same filter lists (English + user filters).

5) It'll still randomly happen even if the images load. Just press F5 to force refresh the page and sometimes they won't load at all.

6) Happens regardless of network driver being used (TDI or WFP).

7) Even happens when adding @@||theverge.com$elemhide,content,urlblock,jsinject to the user filter.

7) This could very likely be an incompatibility with Kaspersky Internet Security 2015 or a bug with Adguard for Windows itself since it seems to have the telltale signs of being an incompatibility and/or bug.

In the following screenshot (Google Chrome with Adguard for Windows with all user filters unchecked) you'll notice that the ads load up fine where as the rest of the images don't.

I also run the most recent Adguard on a KIS 2015 protected WIn 8.1 x64 install and all seems well at the moment.I use IE11 most of the time, but also tried it on the most recent mainstream release of Chrome and found no issue. Will post back should I confront the same issues.I also have exclusions set up for the program files folder, program data folder, user folder, and have all available processes set as trusted under specify trusted applications with all boxes checked.Do not know if that's what is making the difference.

Try refreshing the page several times. I'm also seeing random blank pages too, which also suggests an incompatibility somewhere.

Upon refreshing the page,i now see the same issue as yourself.Refreshing the page several times makes no difference,as I still encounter the same issue

You are right.Seems to be an incompatibility on some level with KIS,as if I right click and exit Kaspersky, and kill any open Kaspersky processes,i have no problem with the verge page loading at all.

There is a compatibility issue with KIS indeed.
Could you please report it to them also?

I have since installed Bitdefender Total Security on this machine for testing purposes, and the problem appears intermittently here as well.I have reported issues to Kaspersky in the past, and the last time I reported an issue related to Adguard,I was told their Anti-Banner has similar functionality hence that was all I needed.I know that not to be the case. They seemed rather disinterested in ironing out compatibility issues. Will try contacting them again.Maybe they will get tired of hearing from me and actually give me something more than a canned response.

You could be right there regarding their unwillingness to fix an incompatibility with a competing ad blocker, hmmm.

When do they plan to release new KIS?
If they won't fix it on their side we'll have to think out some workaround. Again:)

Awesome, thanks for looking into it guys! :)

P.S. Google Chrome 64-bit Windows builds hit the stable channel! :D Your move, Firefox!

EDIT: You can download the MR1 builds from Kaspersky's beta forums.

http://devbuilds.kaspersky-labs.com/devbuilds/KAVKIS_2015MR1/15.0.1.398/

I'll give it a try.

Still happens in the MR1 build.

I have tested a third solution,my favorite in terms of system speed Eset Smart Security along with WSA-C and I do not have any of the aforementioned issues with images loading on theverge.Same main pc and windows 8.1 x64.IE 11 with EPM disabled and Browsing security disabled.Using TDI filter.

I've dropped down to Windows Defender for the time being. We'll see what happens.

Okay, this is REALLY weird. It's still happening with nothing installed - just Windows Defender. Happens with both drivers, all browsers, clean caches/profiles, etc. Tried with all filters disabled and all extensions manually disabled.

Image of The Verge, clean Chrome profile + clean cache, Adguard with WFP driver (TDI driver does this too), English filter and user filter disabled (unchecked), all extensions (assistant, WOT, etc.) disabled, etc.

Maybe it's an Adguard bug?
