Updating....

Hi,

[Win 6.1.298.1564]

I have no idea if this has been posted about already, but it is kind of obvious.
When the program update the filters it doesn't seem to update the program if there is a new binary out.
Same thing if I go into the "Protection is Enabled" window. It says that the filters are updated, but I have to go then go into the "About" window for it to check for program updates.

Wouldn't it be more viable to have both done under the same update, That way you are guaranteed to have the latest Adware protection?

It may not seem like a major concern, but to the end user who just likes to set and forget, they wouldn't have to be hunting around 2 different areas to upgrade the filters and then another to update the program itself.

Just a thought.

@Nahaz hi!

Thanks for your questions, let me answer them one by one.

Filters update automatically, and much more frequently than the software itself. Most times you will not even notice filter updates; with the app it can't be so subtle.

Again, we can't apply the same approach to filter and program updates, they are very different. Program updates are rare enough so that there is no need to know how many hours ago the last check was. Additionally, if there's an update available, the little green checkmark on the Adguard tray menu transforms into a yellow exclamation mark.

Adware protection is mostly provided by filters and they are updated regularly and silently. Software updates are not so urgent to be installed right away when they become available, so for most users the updates will be installed with the next reboot.

I only have to add that, certainly, there are users who prefer to always stay on the cutting edge and to install updates the moment they are available. Such users can set the filter updates check time to 1 hour and manually install software updates whenever the tray icon changes. For the majority of users the pace of automatic updates is well enough.
