Use AdGuard with a VPN

AdGuard uses a VPN connection to filter the traffic, so currently you can't use another VPN at the same time.

I know that you can use AdGuard also in the Proxy Filtering Mode, but this is really inconvenient if your device isn't rooted.

So my feature request is the following: integrate in AdGuard a feature to set up a VPN (with server, username, password, etc), so with the same VPN connection I can use AdGuard and a VPN of my choice.

This would be greatly useful. I think the main problem of AdGuard is that you can't use a VPN with it.

Thanks.

Not possible I'm afraid.

AdGuard for Android uses a local VPN, which isn't a real VPN but still counted towards the single VPN limit the Android OS has. The only ways around it are to use SOCKS5 proxies, if your VPN supports them, through AdGuard for Android. Or if your device is rooted, use the automatic local HTTP proxy filtering option in AdGuard for Android. You can't setup another VPN within the app to do this - if it was possible it would've been done since day one to workaround the VPN limit.

Probably I didn't explain the idea well.

With the feature that I'm suggesting, AdGuard should use a normal VPN connection (not a local one), where I can set server(s), username, password, etc. All the traffic would go through AdGuard as usual, so it would be still possible to block the ads.

This is the only possible way to use AdGuard with a secure VPN (like OpenVPN or IKEv2/IPsec).

That won't work either unfortunately, since filtering ads from websites needs to be done locally on the device and the only ways to do it are the local VPN or the local HTTP proxy - doing it this way would require sending all data to a server which would perform the filtering (which means only specific VPNs could be used since only one as far as I know could potentially do this). Some users would see this as a major security risk.
