Hi. Does anyone know of a way to install AdGuard on my child's account which is running under Google's Family Link service?

Hello there!
Could you clarify what problems you encountered while setting up these two applications?

The application only appears to protect the account on the tablet which it is set up on (the administrator account), but I don't appear to be able to install it to my child's account because it is 'protected' by Family Link.

Hello,

Same problem here for me too. Is there a way to sideload the CA file using adb for example ? Because on Family Link managed devices, the "Install certificate from sdcard" option is greyed out.

Hi,

For the record, I successfully managed to install AdGuard certificate following this procedure :
  • Make backup, just in case
  • Remove the child’s account from the device:
    1. On the child’s device, go to Settings app.
    2. Tap Accounts then Google.
    3. Tap your child’s account and see if you have an option to remove the account. If you don’t have an option, proceed to step 4.
    4. Tap the three dots on the upper right side and see if you have an option to remove the account.
    5. Follow the instructions on screen on removing the child’s account from the device.
  • Once you're done removing the child's account on the device, you can launch AdGuard and install CA file through the menu.
  • After installing the certificate re-add back the child's account on the device.

  1. On the child’s device, go to Settings app
  2. Tap Accounts then Google.
  3. Then tap Add Account.
  4. Sign in your child’s account.
  5. Follow the instructions on screen to set up your child’s account from the device.
@lsdunch @Matteo Cecchinato Hope this helps.

Thanks @chabs
Today, with a suggestion from a friend, i tried to do the same procedure.
it's a bit tedious to uninstall and reinstall the account, but it seems to work.
I hope in the future we can install the new versions in an easier way

There is a much more simple solution. You can enable "Apps from unknown sources" from the admin Family link manager/Child account/Settings

Installing CA certificate doesn't work though, but enabling adguard DNS seems to be enough to block adds in the app

Raising this thread from the dead but, does this have a solution?
I managed to install the certificate by removing and re-adding the child account but I still get the message that https filtering is off and being prompt to download and install the certificate again.
