1 Mbit or Mbyte? In any case, that's very slow indeed.

1. Which device do you use?
2. How do you check the download speed?

I usually download off the play store, and it's slow, (I thought my broadband was at fault) but I turned it off and it was back up to around 3 to 4 mbps, I also use an app called Internet speed meter and it also confirms thanks. Oh and it's an Xperia Z3.

Hm, device is not bad, shouldn't be like this.

So you use VPN filtering mode, right? One more thing I forgot to ask: what's Android exact version?

Yes it is VPN mode, and atm it is 5.1.1, also to mention I turned off filtering in apps and now the speed is back to normal, for apps not the browser, chrome.

Yes HTTPS filtering is enabled.
Ah, that is important indeed. HTTPS filtering is a CPU intensive operation and it may slow everything down indeed (especially when large files are downloaded from a secured domain).

Usually apps do not download anything huge from HTTPS addresses, but it seems that Google has made an exception in your case.

The easy way to fix it is to turn ad filtering off for downloads manager app (as all downloads are done through this app).

Yes that's OK, I just turn it off for apps if I'm downloading anything large atm so all is good.

Can I do that? Whitelist certain apps?

Or you can turn off ad filtering through "firewall" apps settings. I suppose in your case it should be enough to do it for downloads manager app.
