Youtube app Feb 2018

Hey,

I watch a post on the blong where it is recommended to turn on HTTPS filtering and clear YouTube app's data after each reboot.

I tried that with the newest app but ads still appeared. Then I discovered here that it no longer works for YT.

But saw also a post by someone that if I delete updates and let just the factory version, it could.

So how is it? And is there any solution as for this time?

easiest solution is sideloading XDA-developers "Youtube Vanced" (Google is your friend).
It's a way better app anyway: Ad free, background and standby play, ....

Thanks for fast reply. Does it work without root?

I've got warranty and dont want to void it. Is there any solution without the need of rooted device?

Yes, it works without root.

Otherwise, the blog post is outdated. AdGuard for Android can't filter the YouTube app anymore and remove its ads.

Thank you very much. Yeah I was trying it and it still played ads.

I went to the link of the recommended app but there are tons of files to download. Even in the folder for the most recent version, there are 10 different apk instll files and I have no idea which one to choose.

Could you please help me which app to download for Galaxy S5?

Also, I have no idea if I shall download the version of microG for iYTBP or for Youtube Vanced

As you didn't mention your device read this.
If you're lazy just go for this, not mega-optimized but pretty probably 'just working' on your device.

Edit:
WAIT, pls, these are not the APKs I was talking about :/ (ad free but no background play!).

These are better: go for latest version (highest number)
example: iYTBP-v12.49.55-b01.12.00-minAPI16-alldpi-arm64-nonroot-v1.4-black-v3.3-vanced.apk

12.49.55 == version
arm64 == 64bit Arm, armeabi == 32bit Arm
additionally choose between black and original ('white') theme.
In doubt download the 64bit version, if you've got a 32bit system the installer will telll you and you still can d/l and install the 32bit version.

Thank you all very much for fast replies.

I'd be surprised if a Galaxy S5 wasn't arm64, so yeah, choose that one.
I googled this and according to various websites, Galaxy S5 ain't arm64. It claims it's just arm.

So therefore, should I download this version?

iYTBP-v12.49.55-b01.12.00-minAPI16-alldpi-armeabi-nonroot-v1.4-black-v3.3-vanced.apk

Also, ain't there a version that could swich from white to black theme? I would like to use the white one in day, when there is more colours, and the black one in night with no surrounding lighting.

Thanks.

as said: get 64bit, see if it installs.
for white version use the link in the post before - it replaces stock YT, you got two buttons then.

OK thanks, I'll try if ARM64 installs... The 64-bit version should be faster, if supported by the phone?

So according to the preferred theme, I would need then to open different app, right? The "official" (but modded) for white and the "vanced" for black?

When I get some time, I'm going to edit the YouTube sticky topic and add all the info for YouTube Vanced/iYTBP as an alternative.

Yeah, thanks. This don't belong here I guess, since you ain't replying to the help with YouTube Vanced.

Btw what's the difference between YouTube Vanced and iYTBP??? I downloaded "iYTBP" but after first run, the pop-up says "Youtube Vanced". Wouldnt be much of a difference IF the version of microG would be only one. But there are two of them, one for Youtube Vanced and other one for iYTBP :-O

Isn't it the same thing more-or-less? I'm not sure, as I don't use the YouTube app (rather use YT from a web browser instead).

YT Vanced is an update of the official app (replaces it), iYTBP is a standalone app besides 'offocial' YT app
